The practice of family law encompasses areas of complex litigation coupled with the emotional breakdown of the family unit. It is important that your attorney understand the psychological impact a divorce may have on you, your spouse, and your children.

When children are involved in the litigation, we strive to maintain the focus on positive family structure between each parent and their child. We attempt to shift the emphasis away from the dispute between the parents and focus on the best interest of the child in an effort to lessen the impact the divorce will ultimately have on the child. Even in cases where children are not involved, we understand the psychological need for positive resolution without foregoing aggressive representation.

More family law disputes are being resolved by alternative dispute resolution methods. These methods include mediation and collaborative law. Our firm is committed to resolving cases by these methods whenever desired by the client. P & L are frequently appointed by local courts to mediate family law disputes in other attorneys’ cases.
